#060 - Brandon Reese and Daniel Blum - Us On The Bus

60! Episode 60 is a celebratory episode of past and present, for your auditory pleasure... and boy o boy have we shared some incredible conversations up until this point. This episode we get a chance to look back and reflect. We discuss who we've spoken to, interviews we loved (and those Brandon hated), and the journey of podcasting to get this far.

We had plenty of time to reflect about the trip and the fact that it is coming to a close. We share several stories and each talk about the overall intentions we gained from this trip, and what the future holds.

#037 — Joe Stapleton

July 25, 2017
00:0000:00

Fresh off of his commentating of the WSOP we have Joe Stapleton, aka @Stapes. A poker commentator for ESPN and Poker Stars, based out of Los Angeles, California.

As a communications major hailing from Boston University, Joe has always used comedy as a driver. Known for his social media vigilantism, Joe has used his comedy to make a name for himself as a poker commentator, stand up comedian and a social media influencer.

In his early days of poker commentating, Stapes launched a very successful podcast called Two Jacks in a Hole. The show had several episodes that cracked the Itunes comedy top 10. Even with the found success in podcasting Stapes sheds a light on enjoying any victory no matter big or small. Maybe if something was great its not supposed to be left as is.

You can connect with Stapes on Twitter, @Stapes, and on Facebook at @JoeStapesStapleton

We love hearing from our amazing bus riding patrons with new questions and ideas for shows. Send an email to onthebuspodcast@gmaill.com.

Episode 031: Lauren Sesselmann - The Woman Behind the Cleats

May 25, 2017
00:0000:00

Lauren Sesselmann @lsesselmann is a defender for the Canadian national soccer team and plays in the new NWSL (National Woman's Soccer League). She won a bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics and a gold medal in the 2011 Pan-America Games at Guadalajara.

Lauren is more than just a hard-working athlete. She is a fitness instructor (just releasing her second Fit as a Pro program), a mentor - focusing on helping younger girl athletes find success in sports, a growing influencer via social media, an actress, and TV host.

Soccer is the most prolific sport around the world and reaching new heights in North America. But woman's soccer, though growing rapidly, is still stuck with a negative stigma in the quality of play. The bus and Lauren challenge this notion while exploring woman's sports science and injury recovery compared to men's (such as ACL tears are greater during menstrual cycles).

This episode not only explores Lauren's injuries and experiences as a woman in sports, it also takes a look into her depression and coinciding new confidence and creativity as she approaches retirement. Lauren's passion is mentoring and we also talk about everything from racism and sexism to nutrition, dating, social media, acting, and her side projects.

Lauren was one of the most fun people we've had in the studio thus far. She is intelligent, motivational, hard-working, insightful, funny, and has no problem pointing out the bus driver being in love. You're going to absolutely love this show.

This episode we learned some of the same struggles we had from a previous Olympic hopeful, Jared Firestone. Take a look at his episode here if you'd like to listen to another sports topic.

Bus Weekly Fuel:

The supplement that we are experimenting with at the moment is the bitter melon, in order to enhance our body's longevity.

The blog we are reading is MIgrationology. The blog of Mark Wiens who travels the world via his stomach in search of the most delicious food. Love that Kha Floating Market post!

The exercise optimization we are toying with is Ryan Flaherty’s, top 3 optimal exercises primarily the hex bar deadlift to enhance speed and explosion.
